Essex Richards is pleased to announce that John Maheras has joined Essex Richards P.A. as a partner in our real estate group. Maheras specializes in commercial lease review, real estate acquisition, development, finance, and joint venture agreements.

John began practicing law in 1994 after graduating from The University of North Carolina School of Law. He has more than 20 years experience in drafting, negotiating, and modifying commercial leases, and real estate acquisition and development. He represents regional and national landlords in lease negotiations throughout the country.
“I am excited to join such a well-established firm and work with this talented group of lawyers, some with decades-long reputations for outstanding legal ability and client service. To me, this feels like the right place to continue serving my clients,” Maheras said about his move to Essex Richards.

John works closely with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ISCS), and served as the State Director for the North Carolina and South Carolina division from 2014-2016. He is a frequent speaker on commercial real estate law.
